Faisal Anwar is a graduate of the Canadian Film Centre’s Habitat-LAB (2004), and the National College of Arts, Lahore (1996). Based in Canada, Anwar’s work is inspired by art, Design Thinking, minimal design philosophy and cognitive interfaces. His creative computational thinking and artistic practice branches through interactive installations, immersive environments, data driven interventions and internet art.
Currently, Anwar works at Elixir Technologies USA as Chief Experience Officer (CXO) and developing design-led thinking bringing holistic, integrated experience design to cloud-native innovative products and services and making this an intrinsic part of the company’s culture and worldwide business practice.
Anwar has been awarded several residencies, project grants as well as research grants throughout his career. In 2013 he was awarded the prestigious SSHRC Insight Development grant, for his project +City. In 2007 his project ‘Ino it!’ was selected under the Artist as Innovators category Grant, for research for kids with multiple disabilities by the CFC Media Lab, Banff Centre and University of Toronto’s Adaptive Technology Lab. Most recently he was selected by the Labverde Residency Program in the Amazon rain forests working with local and invited scientists, designers, artists and curators. His ongoing project explores ways to work with given research, scientific dataset, to develop a playful and engaging work to help scientists to create new methods of dissemination of information on the climate crisis to various audiences while bridging art with science, technology and nature.
